Life as the offspring, featuring my Dad
Do you ever notice as you get older that you become more and more like either your mother or father ... or heaven forbid ... both!?! Well in my case, this self-awareness is of no shock but quite the compliment! Let me explain:
My father, H.H.H. III, was born in 1945 in the deep South. As of today, he is the age of 61 and sports the lowest blood-pressure in the family, a true "man of muscle" he likes to say. But to really understand the all-in-compassing nature of my father, you must know that he sees himself as quite the comedian.
His humor is out of the ordinary and if he can stop laughing long enough, you might just hear the story! My father is a very practical man so if the reaction he receives from one of his "racy" jokes ('racy' meaning a lady is mentioned any where in the story) the joke will never die. No, you could be in the kitchen with your family and out comes the joke, sitting around the table at a wedding reception at the Country Club and out comes the joke or even bidding your parents adieu at the door with your date and ... you guessed it ... out comes the joke! You'll know you have truly mastered the art of entertainment when you find yourself repeating that same joke, unfortunately for my audience, I tend to forget the ending.

Country Music Marathon ... me?
Let me just say that two weeks ago my two best friends and I were running 13.1 miles in Nashville, TN! We finished strong with a time of 2.24/25 hours. However, now that the race is over, I've found myself a bit sad, not necessarily depressed but unwilling to put in the time and effort it took (daily) to start and complete the training runs. This must be a normal feeling, right? Call me crazy but I'm ready for something more ... like a challenge! I'm not suggesting the Iron Man or the Marine Marathon but, hey, a runner has to pick up some where right? I want more people to meet, more places to explore, more time to learn about what God has created for us to discover! I'll let you know when I make my first move.
